Dolphin Therapy/ Trips

 

Dolphin therapy first started for children with autism and Down's Syndrome and has evolved to now where it's used for mild depression, stress, expectant mothers to help them relax and some new mothers even think that putting their babies in the water with dolphins helps make them smarter.

 

Obviously, dolphin-assisted therapy or dat as it's also called for short, is not a hardcore cure for anything.  Some critics say it's not therapy, it's recreation.  The bottom line is who cares what it's called.  If it can make someone feel good or help an autistic child talk, it's good.

 

A few dolphin therapy centers are free.  Some nonprofit ones cost very little but the for-profit ones are expensive.  People pay a few thousand bucks for a session a day for three days with the dolphins.  A way around this is to volunteer at a dolphin center.

Animal Liberation Against Animal Testing/ People Against Animal Research

 

The Russians put a dog called Latka into space in the 1950s but they didn't care that he would die.

 

I saw some video footage of some freak scientist who implanted a second dog's head onto a living dog. 

 

Then I saw the conspiracy show about creating a humanzee human-monkey at Yerkes National Laboratory to make them strong, obedient soldiers.

 

I saw real disgusting pictures and heard some bad stories about how human beings do the most evil, horrible things to animals and don't even bat an eye about it.  They say they're curing cancer or something like that.  Most people don't want to hear about it.

 

Are experiments on animals necessary for human progress?

 

I heard that the cosmetics companies have done atrocious things to animals by putting acids on their skin to see what they do.

 

Some scientists say that laboratory testing on animals is useless or worse.  It doesn't help human beings achieve their ends.  It's kind of like a way to make money for scientists.  Ultimately, companies don't use the results in deciding what to sell or not.

 

I take the viewpoint that animals are either God's creatures or creatures created by nature that should be respected and have rights.  I understand killing animals for food but other uses are immoral to me like doing laboratory experiments on them, using animals in carnival shows, beating them, torturing them, using them to fight or race each other, etc.  It further reinforces my belief that the human race is made up of a lot of bad people.

 

Animal experimentation is cruel, expensive, and unnecessary.  Most advances in medicine and health have come from a variety of non-animal research procedures like clinical research, autopsies, drug use monitoring, case studies, mathematical modeling, etc.

 

The extrapolation of results of animal experiments to humans is kind of stupid because human beings are very different from other mammalian species.

 

Legal drugs kill around 100,000 people in the US every year.  If they kill so many people, how come the testing of them on animals before they were approved didn't bring up signs of danger by using these drugs?

 

There is the possibility that a drug used on an animal hurts it but that drug could be perfectly fine for human use yet it gets rejected because of its effects on animals.

 

Infecting animals with viruses to try to generalize that virus's effects on humans is bad science because species are so different.

 

For the many people involved in animal experimentation, it's the way they make money so they will lie about how effective it is to keep it going even though privately, many animal experimentation employees say the experiments are stupid and useless.

 

Arnold D. Welch of the department of pharmacology at Yale University wrote, "In part because of possible major differences in responses to drugs in animals and man, the knowledge gained from studies in animals is often not pertinent to human beings, will almost certainly be inadequate, and may even be misleading."

Guide dogs are not just for deaf and/ or blind people.  All kinds of people with different handicaps use them.  These organizations train guide dogs then offer them for use by people who need them.

The best known service dogs are seeing-eye dogs which help people with vision impairment get around but there are hearing dogs, dogs for paralyzed people, dogs for epileptics, dogs for people in whellchairs, etc.
